Leave 'em dished out; put the lugs on the inside of the wheel and mounted to the outermost rib.

That will put you a little closer to the row than you're probably used to, but it works just fine.

Get that wheel pulled in on the axle and the clamp tight first tho, 'cause it is a bear to get at the axle clamp when the rim and tire are sucked in over the top.

Must be thinking different from the other two fellows and could be mistaken, but think if you have double bevel rims they will work without wheel dished in.

I thought of that, but was using M specs that have different rims. But, they would have to go in 6 inches apiece to go from 72 to 60 inches. I believe the double bevel rim only allows about 2 inches per wheel, could be mistaken. But. the bevels on my 460 12 inch rims are 4 inches apart, or 2 inches either side of center. Perhaps someone who has the actual numbers will answer. Don't think the double bevel and 8 "spoke" wheels showed up until the 450.

Most 400 used the 8 spoke wheels. Parts book showes they changed at 5181.With clamps on inside of wheel and using the right bevel I think the outside of tires will be about 3 or 4 inches from rows.May be to close? its Quit raining here, need to get out and go, have to se what verdict is later.

I dunno, with 15.5's centered in the row, you have 14.5/2= 7.25 inches on each side. With only 4 inches you just have to keep the tractor centered in the rows, depends on the driver, also the type and size of the crop. I once knew a tractor driver that could run a rear mount Lilliston (rolling cultivator) within an inch or so of small grain sorghum plants. I tried to use the thing the way he had it set, and couldn't even set it down without breaking plants, much less drive it.

Since you know how wide the tires need to be (ideally 30" from center of tire to center of tractor), measure what you have now, and how much axle you have left to slide the wheels in. Subtract the axle you have left from what you have now.

It can be more than 30", but not a whole lot more, maybe 4". I think you'll be okay if the measurement to the outside of the tire is 42" or less.

Hmm, 42" + 42" is 84", or 7 feet... You will probably have to dish the wheels in, I guess.

Everyone should buy an Operator's manual immediately after buying a tractor, all that info is in it. That said, the closest setting for the wheels dished out is 72 inches, you need 60. Or if you happen to have the 100 inch axle, you can set them at 90.
