I have a 53 super m with a m&w clutch on it.
Do I remove that clutch to get to the brake on left side?
Thank you for any help,
Todd

Thanks guys, I got that cover off today. It makes much more sense now. The hand clutch has seen better days. The brake was gone, the bands were rusted to the outside of the clutch. The rear wheel moves finally.
I think that clutch is going to be a real challenge.
Thanks again for the help

Remove brake linkage and the cast cover , brake band comes off with it. Its the same band as a regular M with band brakes. Also complete M&W hand clutch used on M,SM tractors with the IH disc brakes can be removed or installed without going inside rear housing if needed.

Do you think the right side would be a band type brake also or would it be disc?

I am not 100% sure , but I think the brake on the left side is removed to install the M &W clutch.
