I've recently come into possession of a 67 806 diesel. For some reason on the sheet metal there is no description if it is an "International" or "Farmall". It's always been this way since new. I've looked in magazines of 806's and the pictures always show "Farmall" or International". Why is mine not specified? What's the difference between the two? Thanks, Steve.

It couldn't be "since it was new." Someone, somewhere along the line must have removed the side emblems from the white stripe on the hood above the engine. Those emblems came on every 806, be it Farmall or International.

The original side emblems said "FARMALL" on Farmalls, and "INTERNATIONAL" on Internationals. There are other distinct differences:

Farmalls have adjustable axles in the rear.
Farmalls LOOK longer, taller, leaner. Farmalls have relatively high, narrow rear tires.
Farmalls often have square fenders over the rear wheels, but can also have "clamshell" fenders.
Farmalls have headlights on the sides of the hood, and/or on the fenders.

Internationals have fixed rear axles.
Internationals look shorter, lower, stouter.
Internationals have very low-looking, wide rear tires.
Internationals have round fenders that cover the rear wheels.
Internationals have headlights in the grill.

International are the standard tread (wide front end only with a set back front axle)models.

The serial tag will tell which one you have. A Farmall 806 is marked "F-806" the International is marked "I-806".

Thanks Ken for the reply. Mine is an F806 D on the serial tag. Have any ideas why the sheet metal was never labeled? Steve

As I said in my other reply, there is NO WAY it could have come like that from the factory new. Someone, somewhere along the line removed the emblems. They probably did it to paint the tractor, then either lost or damaged the emblems in the process so they never got replaced.

You can't believe the old farmer that tells you, "It was like that since it was new." 40 years does strange things to a person's memory. Plus, people don't always tell the truth.

There is one unlikely scenario in which the emblems would have been missing since the tractor was "new:" The clods that handled the tractor during shipment ruined the original sheet metal, and the replacement sheet metal didn't come with the emblems. In this case, you got boned by the dealer, who sold you damaged goods as new.

Thanks for the reply Nat. The problem is that "Old Farmer" is my Uncle and I farmed for him with this tractor when I was a teen. I look at the sheet metal and there is no hint of any lettering ever being there. And I know it's never been repainted. I think it came that way from IHC. Steve

Thanks, Ken. I was trying to think of a simple way to explain the differences, and overlooked the obvious. Mark
