Just purchased a one owner super c with mowing machine for $200.The bad news is it has been sitting outside for 10 years with the plugs out of it(motor is stuck).I dont know why the old guy did it but anyway....I am no mechanic but I pulled the head.About an inch of water on top of one of the pistons.The cylinder walls have a light coating of rust on them.Will it hurt to lightly sand paper them when and if I get it unstuck?I have it soaking in a witches brew now.It needs wiring and a tune up before I can even try to start it,but even if I get it unstuck,I am concerened about that much water in there having done irreversible damage in our harsh New York winters.Thanks for the info

If it has been that bad pull the engine off put it on a stand and tear down. With some luck you will be able to pull the crank then you can take it to a press and press out the pistons and sleeves together. There is no use in trying to save it as it is junk. I have been there and done that. You can get new sleeves and pistons for around 350. Get the crank ground then you will have a new engine. The head is probably very bad shape also. With some luck the cam will be ok but nothing for granted. good luck as you have a good job ahead.

If it where me I would blow out what ever you have in the cylinders now and put a 50/50 mix of tranny fluid and turpentine in the cylinders, then let it sit a week. Then top it off again with that mix plus a tablespoon of gas. Step back and light the mix up and let it burn. Each time it goes out add another tablespoon of gas and relight. Do that till almost all the stuff burns out then give the engine a try with the starter not the hand crank. The starter puts out about 10 plus times the torque that you can even think about putting out. Also just do short fast hits of the starter or you can burn out the starter. Watch close at the crarnk shaft pulley for movement. At first it may only be a 1/4 inch but if it moves that much once it will slowly keep moveing till it popps loose

Soak the pistons with ATF and let it soak. I would drain and remove the pan and see how much water is in it. Those engines have wet sleeves and you may be able to drive the piston, connecting rod and sleeve out using a piece of oak wood and a big hammer. You really need heat to free the pistons. You can pour some diesel or kerosene into the cylinder and set them on fire.
Remove all sheet metal over the engine and gas tank. Keep a good fully charged fire extinguisher
handy too. I think the engine needs to be torn completely down and the block inspected for any cracks. New sleeve and piston kits are available.
Crankshaft needs to go to a auto machine shop for measurement. May need to be ground. The head should be taken there too. Hal
