I traded for a cub low boy 154 the other day, the fella said the hydralics were probably low because when he last used it the deck was slow to come up. I went to put some in but I cannot find where to add it, which was a little embarrasing for an old farmboy. It has a hydraulic filter to the left of the seat. Anyone have any suggestions or need more info, let me know and I will try to find out. Thanks, Travis

The hydraulic oil is in the transaxle and the FILL/LEVEL plug is on the rear cover plate. You may also want to change the filter in case it's the cause for slow hydraulics. Low oil level would more likely cause the lift to be jerky and not raise all the way. I THINK the oil to the hydraulics comes from the bottom of the transaxle. This means the transaxle would have to be empty for the hydraulics not to get oil. If you remove the filter and find the fluid to be "milky", it means there's water in the fluid.

I would suggest removing the rear cover plate to empty and clean out the transaxle. Then install a new filter and fluid.

I think the NAPA filter number is 1247.

So the trans-axle runs on hydraulic oil. That makes sense. That was the only thing I was coming up with. I saw the drain plugs on the bottom and the full plug on the back side. Thank you for the help.

The fill plug is NOT the Full mark. Its on the side and near impossible to get to on the 154.I just drain and put in 5 Cups.Dont use hydraulic oil. Use Hytran or the equivilant. I use Hydraulic oil once and it foamed really bad.I now use a product made ny GRC called Tractor Fluid.

I used some stuff from O"Rieleys that says it meets with IH standards in my 350 I just rebuilt. It was foamy at first but I chalked it up to having a lot of air in the system. I drained it after sitting for 25 yrs. Do you think that oil is OK? The cub is still down at this guys house so I will try to remember where these plugs are. Also I looked on this web site for a manual but they don"t have one. Any suggestions?
Thanks Travis
