If it is up, and not on the cam, patient tapping, and heat as described below is the key. If the cam is up on that lifter tapping will only break things. Make sure the other valve is fully open on thatcylinder, or that it on compression TDC on that cylinder befor messing with it. Been there,

tony, as the cowman said it takes patience and penetrant. we have heated the lifter guide at the bottom through the side holes and then worked the guide down with the pushrod and up with the cam. with one lifter this may only take a couple of hours of staedy work so dont worry, you'll make it to the show. getting in a hurry just makes me break stuff and cuss too much. good luck. russ

Hopefully I do not suffer from a damaging lack of patience. My local show is in two weeks and I hope to have it ready.

There certainly is no easy way to grap on to the tappet, about all I can do is apply encouragement to the pushrod(?), which I hat to do too much of.

Thanks,

Tony
