Some previous owner of my super c replaced the tool box and seat and did not put the serial tag back on it. Is there any way to find the orginal number? I know the engine, transmission and rear end has numbers on them, but I'm thinking that will only get me the approx. year model provided none of those has been changed out.

Nat`s correct on that. The straight A`s & B`s had matching engine and chassis #`s, but the C`s & Super C`s didn`t. A week or two ago another fella on here was asking about it.I went out and checked the 3 Super C`s I own and by the mid to late 1953 model year there was a difference of 8900 between the engine and chassis #`s. Look below #1 spark plug behind the throttle rod there will be a # this should be teh tractors serial# if the block hasnt been changed and by using the code dates you should come with something.

That is not quite correct. The engine serial number is most likely NOT the same as the tractor serial number, though it may be close.

Tractor engines, replacement engines, and engines for power units and combines are all manufactured together, and share the same serial number series.

I just went out and got the engine, trans, and rear end numbers and dates. Dates are 1-21-Z, 3-16-Z, and 3-19-Z respectively. What year is Z? And if I can't count on the ser# on the engine, 203162, to be the actual tractor ser#, I guess I will never really know what the actual number is.

Looking at the ser# registry on this site, the ser# on the engine is quite different for the tractor ser#.
