M water pump just sprung small leak when running above connection to bottom hose. Don't think hose is the problem. M scheduled for parade Sun. pulling trailer of kids. No time to break her down & install new pump. What are my options? Anyone know of a quick fix to keep it together for a few days? Once leak starts, how long before she loses it altogether? Thanks.

First, try tightening the water pump packing nut on the front of the pump. That might be all it takes to remedy the leak if the bearings are still good in the pump.

If that doesn’t work, dump a few tablespoons of ground black pepper into the radiator.
