My darling wife of 38 years has been driving me out to the farm to do the chores everyday since my stroke. The other day when I came out of the barn I looked at her and said why don't I show you what to do and I won't have to come! I had a quiet ride home. Let's face it Wimmins aren't practical like Mens is...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Hi Mike, glad to hear that you are on the recovery list. I just got my driving privledges back last week. My wife was quite protective of me not driving for the first 24 days, later Carole decided that I was telling her how to drive properly and was quite happy when the doctor said I could start driving again, was not suppose to drive for 4 weeks. As for the afternoon naps I sort of enjoy them and don't think I will give them up, part of retirement. Cheers, Murray

Murray: Do you mean to tell me, you and quite possibly Mike didn't always take afternoon naps. I've been doing that for years, at least when I can get away with it. There may lie the secret to ideal blood presure.

Michael, You jump on out there, Big Boy! You skate out on that thin ice and see how much symphthy(MS) you get from US!!! I am not evvvven going there. She has been your Team Partner for 38 yrs, And she knows when she is gettin taken advantage of!
Had that Stroke done its worst, and She had to be doing those chores,,,,She would be doing it...No Questions Asked. That question jerked her ever-so-close to the possibility of what could have happen, To YOU!
You better love up and be nice for a while for that little stroke made a 9.9 earth quake in her world. Just my observation as an Ins Agent low these many yrs. I am not trying to be rude, or crude, or pic an argument. For I have the up most respect for all here. Just take care of your self.
Later,
John A.

Hi John A, naw I was just having some fun with her, shes my most precious commodity. My adult kids got rocked too, they didn't think their Dad would ever have a stroke, effects everyone around you, friends neighbours who are shocked that you had a health crisis, BP is good , on meds, three more appointments for tests and I'm hoping everything will boil down to aspirin, BP meds and regularly checking blood pressure...Mike in Exeter Ontario

I agree with your wife, I have seen first hand what being cooped up in the house, not doin anything for days will do. When Gramps got his hand chewed up in the baler he stayed inside for a good month and when he started working again- he didn't have any stamina at all. Keep moving and stay active.

Broomstacker and others, you are absolutely rightI was just getting a rise out of her, she's a good sport and she says she likes a good joke, after all she married me! I did discuss physical activeity with her and I ddo feel better when I get out and throw a few bales in the feeder and wheel some corn for the cows. She is concerned about overdoing it but believe me everyone, you know whwn you have reached that point, I find I tire very easily and I have been having an afternoon nap with the cat since this all happened. I will soon be able to drive myself to the farm, when the doc okays it. The meds make my eyes dialated and I don't focus as well, but understand it is temporary and when my body is accustomed to the meds I should be good to go. The SIL asked what he could do to help...I said nothing right now but you are going to be haybining, raking and baling and likely stacking as well. He's gonna wished he hadn't said anything. My son teaches at the high school I taught at and several staff have told him that when it comes hay time they are coming to help. I always mentored new young teachers and went out of my way to make them feel welcome, had four in my departement and apparently they haven't forgotten. Sounds like a few cases of beer and several pounds of New York Strips will get the hay in the barn(THe beer after all the equipment is shut down for the day). Take care everyone and know your blood pressure! Mike in Exeter Ontario
