I am trying to track down a problem with my 786 gauges not working. Has enyone ever noticed a small board screwed to the back of the gauge cluster that looks like 3 diodes attached to slide terminals? If so what are they for, they are broken apart and obviously not doing what they are suposed to.

Wiyhout looking at a schematic, i would guess that they are zener diodes which are used for voltage regulation as Jim has said. If you can find correct values, they are readily available.

probably voltage adjustment resistors on an adjustable track to make the gauges read correctly. Probably not easy to substitute for.
