Hi guys, I have a 1939 model A and the brake adjusting rod broke off at the weld on the brake band. It looks to me like the only access to get at the rear brake shoe is to take off the rear tire and remove the whole axle assembly through that outside cover. Does anyone know if that's the case? It seems like an awfull amount of work just to do a brake job. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom, It's not as hard as you think. I just put mine back together. I replaced all the seals on the little tractor. If you have access to a engine hoist, use it. Good Luck.
Charles

sure glad I read this site because I need to redo the brakes on my A. Now I know to set aside about a month when the A is not needed.

Yep its a lot of work to fix the brakes on one. If you find you need parts to fix yours I have a B that would have the brake parts, Its in pieces so its easy to get to the parts.

Yep, it's an awful lot of work. The housing has to come off becouse the brake band is held on the bottom with a pin.
