I broke a shaft on my Int. #37 12' wheel disc. and was wondering if anyone knew oa any salvage yards in the midwest where I could obain a used one. I hate to buy a new one as it would cost more that the disc is worth. This is the shaft that holds the blades.
Thank you.

Try Kalsem Salvage Waterloo, IA. [319 296 2236]. A little slow, but had the part for a 470 disc. I think that Shoup had the disc gang bolts by length but haven't looked lately.

Henry, what is the length of the shaft? I junked one out last year and saved the shafts but don't remember the width of the disc.

billde: The shaft is approx. 67-68 inches in length. I was measuring it on the disc so could not get it exact.
Thanks

Fix like so and VELD it, i have welded a bunch of them back together ya just have to get 100% penatration and they will be fine . Or you can get a new one they make new gang bolts but i am to cheap unless there is no other way.

If you take it to the Iron/metal suppliers in your area, they will probably be able to match it with bar stock of equal properties. If, then, you go to a technical highschool, or college they will mor than likely assist in the threading and sizing of the shaft. Others may chime in with a salvage yard.

janicholson, that'd what I would do as well, have a kocal machine shop I deal at that would lathe the ends/thread/spline whatever it needs, or HENRY V1 may get lucky and find a used shaft...Mike in Exeter Ontario
