Rebuilt a Farmall 350 motor with Firecrater pistons, had 150lbs of compression before starting, ran it for 2.5 hours then dynoed, 45hp but only got 90lbs of compression now. 30wt oil in it. Any ideas on the lower compression?

Well if ya checked compression before starting the engine there was all the oil around the rings and this probably cause this , Now that it has run all the oil burnt off and the rings have not seated yet or ya done went and glazzed them over from loading it down to soon . I never load to max till she has run about 7 hours at varying loads and RPM's . Put somemore run time on it with light to med. loads at varing RPM's and get about thiry hours on it then run the bag off it . Also change the oil and filter after ten hours and again at the thirty hour mark .

Did you make sure the throttle was full open when you did the compression check? Did you squirt a little oil in each cylinder and see if the pressure increased?

Yes, done all that. They are OEM Firecrater kits. Never had one do this before on all 4 cyliners.
