I am thinking about replacing the two wheel tricycle front end on a B with the wide front end left over from an A. Has anyone done this? Any problems steering? Thanks!

Hi George, I"m in the process of rebuilding my 47 B. I put a wide frontend on it. I took the steering box with the steering arm support and mounted it up to the tractor. I went to a local pipe supply and found a pipe that was longer then the factory pipe. Had a machine shop make the cross pipe with brass bushings and I took some black pipe and made new steering arms. Overall it looks like the factory made it. I did have to notch the grill a little due to it hitting the steering box. It does not turn as sharp unless you hit the brakes a little. E-mail me,I will send some pics as soon as I have the rear end back together if you like.

I had a BN I restored that had a wide front. I think you need the steering support off the A also. It is taller if I recall. Maybe the hood sheet and grille too. Seems like my grille and hood sheet did not fit up perfect but they were close.

Workd well you just cant have the front wheels in the same track as the rear or it wont steer good. Just adjust the fronts using the pivot for centering. If you try and set front to follow same track as the rears one side will be turning a different arc than the opposite wheel. Some like the wide front for mowing on side grades. You will have to make a small cut on the front grille but it is not hard to do. Go for it.
