I looking at putting some bigger tires on my Super H and currently I have 12.4 on it and were looking at some 13.6's. My question is will 13.6's fit on my 12" rims?
thanks Andrew

The old designation for 13.6-38 is 12-38, same tire. IH parts books generally recommend a tire up to one inch wider than the rim size, meaning 14.9-38 (13-38) is ok.

I have gone 3 sizes over on a 12 inch rim , but that is too much. A 15.5 on a 12 inch rim is like a wedge. A 12.4 or a 13.6 or even a 14.9 on a 12 inch rim should be just fine.

Andy,

Yep, that is what 13.6s call for.

I put these 14.9s on my tractor a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how they measure that rim, but the tire shop swears it is a 12" rim.

They were trying to put in 20 lbs of air in the tires and I made 'em take it back down to 14 lbs.

I have been using that set-up since the mid 50's, 13.6 work great on a H with narrow rims.
