My son-in-law has a 404 utility. I need to know if this a positive or negative ground tractor. All my green tractors are positive ground. Thanks for the help.

I believe all IH tractors were 12 volt negative ground by about 1961 when the 404 was produced, I won't guarantee that. It really doesn't matter to the generator, but if the voltage regulator was designed for postive ground, the points in it won't last as long if you use negative ground. The regulator will say "positive ground" somewhere on the bottom if that is the case.
