My 856 is puting fuel into the crankcase. Could this be a seal in the pump or where do I start? Any help is appreciated

Hi,i've ask you that, because, the bracket that hold the cable, near the transmission housing, can be turn upside down.If the bracket is not on the good side, the fork make contact with the bracket and the valve don't lift enough to stop the PTO. If the gasket of the MCV is broken, the PTO will slip. I've see a trouble like yours, it have dirt in the MCV that cause the spool valve to not lift enough, the PTO don't stop.Bernard le mecano Quebec Canada

You always get some fuel that goes to the oil. Especially if you have a hard to start engine. It is called oil dillution and is natural. Weak rings will let it happen quicker. Unless you really know the engine, it is probably just dillution. Change the oil and see how it behaves.

Your front seal in the injection pump is out letting fuel into the crankcase around the pump driveshaft. Remove the injection pump and replace the seal or take it to a pump shop and have it done.

I bought for a TD24 with an in work Cummins diesel. When I first started up the engine fuel was all over the place. Checked the crankcase and it was about 50/50 oil and fuel. I suspected the fuel pump and bought a new one for a small king's ransom and it has purred like a kitten ever since. I still haven't figured out how all that fuel got in the cranckcase unless it was overpumping to the injectors and getting by the rings. As a precaution I always shut off the fuel valve now so if won't gravity feed into the injectors while shutoff.

I don't know that engine but I know it could be from the fuel pump if it has one or the injector pump seals eight one of both can cause that problem. Just a guess

Sorry i cant tell you where to start as I can only relate to truck diesels. Usually a leaking injector will put diesel in the crankcase.

Hopefully some one that knows will chime in.
