I have a 460 with a worn clutch pedal shaft. It is a restoration project.

The shaft is wore beyond just a new bushing in and I would like to know how others have fixed this issue.

Has anyone welded the shaft up and ground down while it is in the tractor? Thanks.

Best way I found was to buy a new shaft from OEM Tractor parts. You can also send them your clutch pedal and they will machine it out and put a new bushing in it. I think last time I had it done I ended up with about $80 in it. Here's a link to their brake shaft parts. >Link

The>Link part number you need is 370874R1

I didn't read all your post before I answered below. You're saying OEM did the machine work and shipping for $30? That's pretty good.

Soon be my 67th birthday so I may as well do the engine, buy rear tires and rims, then take it with me when I go. Just think Kirsch, they could dig an 8' deep hole put me on bottom, with 130 down to axles as a grave marker. Should hold me down.----- ----- ----- ----- ----- Hello Hugh: In reply to your comment above, I posted a picture of a Farmall in a Funeral on one of my blogsites. Hope it helps? Why not get one more last ride? ag

What's involved in the shaft's removal and installation? DOe sit simply slide out from one side?

It just slides out. Any good machine shop can make a new shaft, build up the clutch pedal hole and install a bushing. Had one done last summer for about $105. OEM's shaft is $49.50. Typical machine shop charges are $50/hr, more or less. If you sent the pedal to them and had them build it up and bush it, two way shipping would cancel out any price advantage.
