Hi, I have a 674 International Diesel that I have tore down the engine Because it smoked like a Freight Train and used Oil so I yanked the engine down and found a stuck oil ring and the head needs some attention too. The problem is the parts!! It's going to cost me about $40 to ring 1 piston so that's about $150 to do all 4 , about $20 for 1 rod bearing and about $150 for a head set . Do these prices seem high and can anyone tell me where is a good place to buy these parts any cheaper ? Thanks for your time
Scotty

The old sayen is that if ya want to play ya got to pay and now that you are playen in the big sand box it costs more . Now if you need rings and bearings ya need more then that as said in the other post ya need more then meet the eye and to a rebuild while it is apart is money well spent , BUT doing a rebuild on a diesel is not just a matter of slappen in parts this is where ya had better know what you are doing and do it BY THE BOOK like getting the sleeve hight set correctly checking the crank BEFORE ORDEREN BEARINGS having the connecting rods rebuilt and sizen the pin bushing having the injection system rebuilt and maken sure that you assembel it as per the book down to the vary last detail.

You may be better off to get a sleeve kit from this forum under engine kits and do a complete engine rebuild. Check with Advance Auto parts
for bearings. Hal
