Looking for tires for my H.
Called 2 places, same tires, both 6 ply.

Firestone 12.4 x 38 $441 one place $265 the other place

6.00 x 16 $84 one place $46 the other place

First place is local, the other place is in a small town, 35 miles away. I knew they would be different, but not that much. Glad I called the second place. Is this normal, that they would be that different in price? I'm in Illinois, is that about you guys in different states are paying?

I bought a pair of 12.4-38 6 ply Galaxy's for my Super H a couple of months ago. Since I'm close to Denver and will be moving to western CO, I called dealers in both areas. The best price I found was just over $600 for the pair, including the tube, mounting and tax. One Denver area dealer quoted $485 each, just for the tires (Goodyear's).

New 12.4 x 38 $185

Does not include SHIPPING, mounting, disposal or tubes.

The $265 sounds more then fair for local if it includes mounting and disposal, real cheap if it also includes the new tube. The last tube I bought for a 13.6 X 38 ran around $42.00.

I called 3 places last week my self but dealer prices, And I was told that tire prices have gone up 8 times since last NOV. Could it be becuase of oil? But It would not suprise me if thats not left over stock that they paid a cheap price for and the other reflects a new price as of today. They wanted $50.00 for 600x 16s and close to $350 for 13x6 38 and just a little more than that for the 12.4x38s Could not believe it the last ones I bought were 13.6 x38 at $202.00 a piece. Kellys and $36.00 for the kelly 600x16s JON

Doesn't surprise me to see that kind of variation. Differences in services included, like mounting, tube, disposal, may make up some or all of the difference, but it wouldn't surprise me of both prices are for the same thing: Just a tire.

You gotta remember that not everyone is an honest businessman, especially when it comes to farm equipment and accessories. More often than not, you'll find one willing to quote you a ridiculously high (i.e. full retail plus) price in the hopes you'll be stupid or desperate enough to bite.

Old, you're absolutely right, then one place told me to add $25 per tire for disposal of the old ones.

I paid $36.00 for 5:50 x 16 front on my H about a year ago. Recently priced 6:00 x 16's for another tractor at $38.00 each.
