My IH 444 gas tractor has a near new electric fuel pump from NAPA. The tractor will run for 3 or 4 minutes then die from no fuel. If you turn the key off and back on you hear the pump start again. So, the pump is stopping and thus running the tractor out of fuel. If you do not start the tractor but just leave the key on the fuel pump never quits. So why does it stop while engine is running and never stop when engine is not running? Any ideas?

You may want to check all the electrical contacts.Sometimes wires lose continuity and switch prongs become loose causing intermitent problems.
