Well Guys I thought I was going to buy the farm today. I had an H4 magneto that needed to ship tomorow so I figured I had better test it for good spark before shipping. Well let me tell you somthing I have never been zaped like that in my whole life. I think I saw the white light and my life pass bvefore my eyes. I have been zaped by 110,220, Heck when I was a kid we used to see who could hold on to the electric fence the longest. But I dont know what that H4 has instore for this tractor but Ill bet it has a good hot spark. I can barley type it actually burned my hand and still hurts. I dont know what I did wrong I have done this 100s of times before but I did put the rubber gloves on when I got done cussing everything that I could see through the spots. LOL. So when I tell you guys how to test your magsbe carfull they dont bite like this one did. JON

One time at a friends stag down on the farm the boys were drinking kinda heavy so we wired yp the beer tank whith an old Model-T Ford coil. After laughing our sides out for half an hour we showed the boys our trick and then they went on drinking beer when we unhooked her. My Dad use to have truoble with dogs wetting on his newly cleaned wheels so he use to hook up a T-coil to the car and throw on the switch just as he left. He had no trouble with dirty wheels after that. Red

Yep, it stinks when you're the path of least resistance.

When I was in an electrical engineering class, the professor told us once that, "Its not the spark that hurts, its everything that gets in your way as you try to get away from it." And from my own experience I can say that is true. I brushed up against a 120 VAC suction line solenoid once that got a piece of me, and it was the evaporator fan that got me as I jerked away (stitches required). Its good to get a friendly reminder on safety early in life, it instills caution that sometimes we need to be reminded of.

1st rule of electricity: It runs in a big circle. Stay out of that cirlce and you wont have any problems. Ha ha ha.

Hope the hand feels better soon! I guess hearing your story, we know you sell some d*mn good mags then!

Billy

Wow! I knew a mag could bite pretty good, but I didn't know they could bite that hard.

I can't even imagine. I got shocked trying to pull the spark plug boot off the plug of an IH 2500 once. My dad said I jumped pretty high. All I know is that my fingers hurt afterwards. I only experienced part of the current. There was still a lot going to the plug, as I never got the boot off before I jumped. Also, I've heard magnetos can have sparks even stronger than battery ignition, so OUCH! Thank God you're still with us. I hope your hand heals quickly.
