He may not have any interest in old iron but I hope he has an avid interest in his father and will do what it takes to make him happy.

Perhaps Ed doesn't share an interest in the tractors his dad has/had. Maybe the gentleman is totally unable to do anything. Time will tell better than anything, his father could make a recovery over the coming months and once again be able to tinker...or maybe the best thing is to liquidate the machines. The market seems to be going soft on old tractors. I just sold 2 on ebay yesterday for much less than I expected. But, if the tractors are no longer wanted or needed, better to move them than let them sit and go downhill.

Ed,
My brother absolutely loved to trout fish but had a stroke some years ago.
You would not believe the smiles and tears he had when his boys and I would pick up his wheel chair and haul him down to the river to be around us as we fished. We got him in his hat, waders, fly vest - the whole 9 yards, and took pictures of him, holding the fish up next to him.
Why not set your dad up out there in the barn / garage and finish the project? He can offer advice (even if he can't speak, you can ask him questions about each move on the project) and watch you complete the tractors.
Believe me - you will never live long enough to ever regret it!!
