My f20 has the cap on the left on the main (kerosene) tank and the center cap on the little (gas) tank.

I agree with Illinois Boy that the shinier one is better looking.

Hey, I have a 1938 f-20 that has the cap on the left, which I believe to be original, but the earler tractors most likely had the center cap.

My $.o2 would go with any cap that has a VENT. I had the damn gas blow on a 300 many long hot summers ago. "Super" filled the tank and went back to plowin. Smelled gas all over the place and shut down the tracktor. THEN I unlocked the cap. Got a good two gallon gas bath.Talk about poopin your undies! The new style double vent cap had plugged up and needed the holes poked out. The tractor leans way to the right when you plow so watch it! On a small scale garden the most wonderful power rig you can get is a Gravely model "L" with a roto-plow. Man what a diggin fool they are. Jeffcat

Is the one on the left a replacement cap(of the no famous replacement cap program)? I have one like it on my 44 H. I ask because it has the vent hole.

The one on the right also has a vent hole, you just can"t see it in the picture. The "replacement" cap is about 2 inches tall. The ones in the picture are all original, just from different years.

My 39 H had a cap like the one on the left. I believe that I may have had the original cap as the tractor had set idle since the early 60's.

I would guess the middle one. The “BUY CLEAN FUEL” and “KEEP IT CLEAN” on the other two suggest newer caps to me. My F-20 and F-12 don’t have that wording on them.

My penny’s worth…

Nebraska,
You could just change 'em around every so often...

Don't know which one is "politically correct" but if we're voting - I like the one on the right - it's shinier!!
