Tired 300 in Mn

I'm planning to install an alternator on my 300. Is there adequate hood clearance for a Delco 10SI or should I be looking for a smaller unit? Also what belt to use? Thanks in advance. Allen

Hitachi alternators are smaller, they're available from NAPA. NAPA's p/n is 2138130 and
this # 14231. Hal

It's probably the same alternator I have on my 300 and we had to push the hood out with a bolt. I had to buy a new alternator for it on monday, I tried looking for a smaller one but ended up getting the same model so we're gonna have to rig something else up to make the hood fit properly.

About 1982 I did the 300 on my Dad's farm. Used a Motorola from an AMC Rambler with the 6 cyl engine. It is a 35 amp and is vey small. The only thing you need to add is an idiot lite to telll the alt. to power up. Works great and did the 460 about a month later.

I think it will fit. Look over on page 4 for Levi's posting on his 300. Hal
