I am trying to get my M running and I can't figure out how to wire it. The magneto does not have the coil inside but has a 12 volt coil mounted on a bracket above it. The generator is 12 volt. Also, there is a resistor beside the regulator. Any ideas on how to wire this?

Simply wire it like you would a distributor. It is no longer a mag.

Power from ignition switch to resistor, from resistor to (+) on coil, from (-) on coil to points/condensor.

In my experience, using a condensor from a later tractor with factory distributor will give longer point life than keeping the mag's internal condensor, as, I believe, the values are a bit different.
