How to remove couple on lift-all on M?

Thanks to those that answered my question below about removal of the lift-all. I got the coupler off of the tranny end. Just hit it with the hammer and put a bar in the slot turned right off.

Now I figured I just as well replace the seal in the pump itself. But could find no way to hold the pump . I know there's probably a simple answer to this and know someone will pipe up.

Does anyone have a number for the seal on the pump? I'm going to stop and pick up the other one and if I have a number maybe the pump one. Did the M come with tow seals on the tranny end of the coupler?

No, the seal on the transmission side was a single unit, but it had two “lips” that made it look like two seals.

You must take the pump out of the Lift-All casting. Take a smooth flat bar and put it up into the gears of the pump. Turn the coupler nut lefty-loosy to remove. when you have the pump out, clean the bottom of the housing and take a large flat file (mill b##stard type) and file the mating surfaces of the pump & housing so the new gasket will not leak.
Your IH dealer will have the parts or can get them for you.
I just replaced the single (1) seal and gasket on an M pump 2 weeks ago. The hard part is getting the operating lug to fit into the pump when going together. Helps to put the lever (the one on the outside of the tractor) in place to locate as you assemble. Put a couple bolts in and operate the lever to see if all is in place. Pull all the way back & it will lock in the "up" opsition; push ahead & it should snap back to "hold" and further movement should put the lever in "down" position.
Some bolts are longer than others so look carefully when replacing them.
It does help to have an assistant holding the lever as you put the pump back together; it is heavy.
