Is the seat cushion supposed to be silver or red/white?

I believe the original seat cover if it had one was a tan canvas, although I've never seen a new one. Most people choose the red/white now over the silver, but neither was original. Go with whatever looks best to you.

yeah, there was a silver seat cover. But they were later than 46. On his tractor the seat cover would have been black canvas but as they weathered they turned the tan you remember. Darrell Darst still recovers the old seats in the original fabric. third party image

Dad's telling me he had a red/silver seat on his '47. Guess that would answer his question by saying "both".

Red/silver is aftermarket, never was original equipment.
