I recently bought a 1961 cub...smokes some mostly under a load, but smokes. The tractor was not used much or at al lfor over a year before I got it.

I have been told of a gas/oil additive called Sea Foam to help seat or clean the rings to help with the smoke...

Any suggestion?

Thanks

You can get SeaFoam at Advance Auto Parts, and probably most any other big-chain auto parts stores.

I tried Sea Foam Deep Creep and Rizlone oil additive in my backhoe that was profusely using oil and smoking. I have to admit that it helped, but I finally ended up tearing it down and doing a rebuild. After I got it apart and saw how bad the cylinders, rings, and bearings were worn, it was no wonder why it was still using a quart every two hours!

Good luck!

Sea foam does work well if the rings just need to re-seat. If they are worn, nothing short of a rebuild will correct the problem. Is this blue smoke?

During usual running, slight blue smoke, not heavy. If I sit at idle for a few minute, it is heavier when starting workm again

Thanks, Buffc
