I just bought a Super M and the rear rims look like they are galvanized ?? The paint and primer, if any, is coming off in big chunks. How can I paint them so it will stick ?? Also, is PTO shaft and housing the same on M as Super M ??

It sticks in my head that originally those rims weren"t painted from the factory- they were just cadmium plated or galvanized. So, why not just clean them up and enjoy their originality if they are in good shape?

Sand it good or use a sandblaster. Then epoxy primer, it sticks to about anything. Paint will peel off any unprepared surface, galvanized or not.

Just like any other painting project, you've got to get the old "paint" off before the new paint will stick. Galvanized is just a coating, and can be sanded off. Usually, the rims are old enough on these 50+ year old tractors that it's already come off in the natural rusting process.

I think the PTOs are the same, unless you get one from a very very early M. Those were different.
