Can you guys tell me what the fix is for a clutch petal that swings to the outside when you push it in? I have a rod bolted on that keeps it in now, but it sure doesn"t look like it belongs there. Thanks!!

Pilot Knob Restorations rebushes them for about $60. I had a local machine shop rebush one of mine for $80, which is about the same as having Pilot Knob do it and then paying shipping. I also drilled and tapped a 1/4-28 hole in mine after having it done and added a grease zerk so I could keep it lubricated. In the ones I"ve seen, the lion"s share of the wear is usually the hole in the pedal assembly and not the shaft. Good luck, Brian

I have seen several of these with a steel bar bolted or even welded to the floor plate. I made a square frame that bolts onto my SMTA when I first got it running as a "temporary fix" and it has been there since. I have seen new shafts advertised for less than $50. I tried to tighten mine up with washers but it didn't help a lot. I think the prior owner probably didn't grease it enough.

I take mine to a machine shop. Usually they bush the pedal and make a new shaft. Last one I had done cost $113. NE Cowman may have a decent one for less than that.

I just listed some better pedals in my ebay store. Otherwise you could have your shaft built up and the pedal bushed. I'd guess most of the wear is in the shaft. third party image
