I have what to many of you will be a dumb question I expect. How do you engage the starter on a white hood/ yellow belly Cub? Cannot see a pushbutton anywhere and the keyswitch does not seem to have a start posistion. {The key does turn harder than I expected though. Bad key switch?) How does the battery charge? It does not have an alt or gen on the waterpump belt and the starter has only the battery cable lug. No field terminal. Tractor does have lights and appears to be completely intact. Not mine YET. Wanted to get it runnng so I could decide on a price offer. Thanks for any advice. Chris

If it"s a standard Cub, the late model ones had a safety switch that you have to have the clutch depressed to engage to starter. It also had an alternator and it sounds like someone removed it.

Yes, bad key switch. And those things had a combo starter/alternator on them
