My H sure seems to be cold blooded used it this mourning had to be warmed up about 15 minutes before it would not sputter when I opened up the throttle. Is this the nature of the beast.

Not to that degree.
Adjust the high speed richness (screw at front bottom of carb CCW 1/4 turn at a time till it will run well with one minute of warm up. It will probably have more power as well.

Yep, mine's the same way. I just start my 48 and drive it around for a few minute's to warm it up before I put it to work.
