I have a 1965 1600 LoadStar that has a 304. It runs good but loves to burn oil and foul plugs. I have a good 345 in a parts 1976 Scout. Will this 345 engine bolt up to the trans in my truck to replace the 304?

PS I tried the IH TRader web page but unless you register etc you cannot even search the archives. Also the format of the discussion forums there and in turbo diesel registr STINK!!!!! I like this one 1000 times better.

For great IH truck information, try these three sites:

www.binderbulletin.org
www.oldihc.org
www.justih.org

All three have discussion forums that can be read, and the archives contain a wealth of information on these trucks.

As for your question, all SV-series International engines [266, 304, 345, and 392] use the same bellhousing pattern and will interchange. In the mid-1970's some went to side engine mounts; others had front mounts, with the bellhousing used for a "rear" engine mount position.

That will be one of the easiest swaps going. I'm glad you like us. (we are however prime focus on Tractors)
