I bought something "Green" today. A great big green Oliver. I hope the Lord does not hold this against me.

Just hope itwas built on a tuesday. Our "big" tractor is an Oliver 1600 gasser, but on most days the Super H has to step up and fill in for it. 'Specially now. I can run the H all day for 1 hour's worth of gas for that Oliver, but we also have a little 550...I've never seen ba##s that big on a machine! Makes the Super H look like a gass hog too.

No harm, no foul! Green is good when it's on an Oliver. I'm an IH guy...and my next purchase is gonna be a 70 or 77 Oliver...unless I find that Minnie Mo RTU that's got my name on it. Gosh, I hope my girlfriend isn't reading this forum! Dang!

No shame in owning Oliver green. It's John Deere green that should be avoided at all costs.

I like each brand of tractor for a different reason. I grew up with my father having two tractors: a 1949 Farmall H and a 1951 John Deere B. Both have thier good sides and bad sides. They each had a different job on the farm. Today, I have a 1951 Farmall H, a 1943 John Deere A, a 1942 JD H, a 1949 Farmall cub w/mower and an Allis-Chalmers B. Each tractor has it"s own purpose. If someone asked me to pick my favorite, i wouldn"t be able to!!

The only green in my tractor shed (if I had a tractor shed) is the 49 Oliver "88" that dad had. I agree that the Oliver will out pull most anything else. Just don't mention the other green tractor.

I keep an unstyled JD 1937 A (with brass tag and factory round spoke wheels), a JD 1938 B and a JD 1947 H, all collectible tractors, sitting out in the weeds behind the barn just so people won't think I don't know any better.

It doesn't hurt you to own one, the bad thing is if you own one and don't own a Farmall, you only think you have a great tractor.

Remember there are more JD's in collecitons than Farmalls because the Farmalls are still working.

I love my red tractor, but it is only a matter of time before I have an Oliver Super 55 or 550. Those are great little tractors.

You had me scared for a minute; I thought you had gotton one of the 'other' green tractors.

Sorry to sy this but my self when I really need to pull something I jump on my oliver not my farmall. I even sold a farmall because I found that an oliver would just plain out pull a farmall Hp to Hp. Plus all tractors need to be saved

All tractors, like all dogs, are good in the eyes of the lord.

It doesn't matter. God surely loves tractors. He started out a farmer (gardening) before he got into the people business.

... and I bet He wishes He'd have stuck with farming...

The only thing green around my spread is the guy who lives down the road - has an Oliver Super 88.
Nice machine.
