I have a 766 with 20.8 x 38 rear tires on it that are worn out. The manual I got for the tractor showed that it should have 18.4 x 38 tires. Does anyone know if I can put the 18.4 tires on the rims that are on it? Can anyone tell me what width the rims should measure to be sure I can use 18.4 instead of the 20.8. The tractor is used for haying and odd jobs around the farm and is my largest tractor. I don't put it to a lot of tillage use and can't see needing to invest in the bigger tires for no more than what it will be used for. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Well for and 18.4x38 the insde of the bead should be 16 inches wide and for a 20.8x38 it should be 18 inches wide , But even if it is the 18 inch bead you can mount the the 18's on them it just flatens the tread out a bit for a bias ply it gives ya a tad more flatnesss on the tread now if you are thinking about radials now here i am not sure you may have to drop back to a 16 inch wide rim . All depends on the rim width . Someone may have just put them 20.8 on a 16 inch rim so you may not have a problem . Also sometimes if ya look the rim over it will have the rim size stamped into it . The next time i have to put a new set of tires on i am going the Firestone radials as i do like the set that my buddy put on his 706 they ride nicer and have far better traction then the bias tire does.
