First off I would never add an in line fuel filter, they cause more problems then worth. First thing I would do is pull the drain plug from the bottom of the carb. If you have a good steady flow of gas there you have a problem with a clogged carb/main jet. If you don't have a good flow of gas then you need to check your sediment bowl, and filter that is in the lbow at the carb. In line fuel filters are made for systems with a fuel pump and your tractor doesn't have a fuel pump

Hey Rich, I put inline filters on most everything that has gravity feed fuel delivery system. Never any problems. My Ford 640 ran one for 10 years, just change it once in a while. Most all motor cycles and snow mobiles run in line filters. Even good quality chainsaws have in line filter in tank. :>) :>)

I hate having to mess with needle valve in the field. :>(
So what say you???? lol

Happy Easter Sunday Keith, Sheana & Shawn

In line filters work just fine, IF and ONLY if they are made for systems with out fuel pumps. Yes if you use a filter made for say a lawn mower or motorcycle yep they work very well. But the ones you buy at Wal-Mart will not be that type of in line filter. See where I'm going here?? Web page is updated again

I agree, its dirty gas. theres a spec of rust stuck in the jet. what i have done on different occations is take out the carb drain plug and just let the gas run out, even give the tractor a couple shakes and the rust comes out.did this right in the field and all it took was a 7/16 wrench.its only a quick fix till you have time to do the proper job, clean the whole fuel system.

Open the main jet adjusting screw several turns to see if that helps near the bottom of the carburetor. Hal

The most obvious is crud in fuel tank.
Make sure the sediment bowl has a screen in it where it screws into fuel tank.
Install a free flow, see thru, inline filter in gas line half way to carb. Wally world sells a fram filter that works great.
Make sure the screen in carb is clean.

Could be something else but 99% of the time its dirty gas.
