I have a Farmall 300. Last year it developed a very fast idle that was intermitent. It was annoying but I didn't do any thing about it. I took it out of the barn today after it sat all winter. All of a sudden the engine ran wild. I assume that it is a governor problem. What do look for and where do I look for it?
thanks

JM

Remove the governor cover & look inside. Is a weight broken off? The weights have to move freely; they are what closes down the throttle, slowing the engine.
The spring opens the throttle, making the engine run faster.
The throttle disc in the carburetor can work loose & not be closing properly.
Check it out so you don"t break a rod or something!
