I purchased an aftermarket mag coil cover, but it is so tight going on ,I'm affraid to mash it on there.

is this common with the newer covers? Super A H-4. And will it hurt anything to force it over the coil. the sides seem to be rubbing the mag coil.

Yep the knob is a little forward on the coil. gasket? didn't know it had a gasket. the old one didn't have one on it.

what type of material were they? guess i will have to make one to fit.

Yes that happens 99% of the time . You need to take something and grove about 10 thousands off the sides where its hitting and you always need to use two gaskets on aftermarket caps. Is the nob on the coil pointed ahead a little if its straight up it will break the new cap also. JON
