I think I have a 350Utility, but the hood looks like at one time it says 300. The Serial Plate reads 3542 PJ. Not much else as the plate has been sanded plenty of times. I did get a 350U book with it. Any thoughts?

There are a few differences in the 300/350U tractors. Although any of these could have been added or changed, I'll give you a few items. The 300 had a C-169 engine, the 350 a C- 175. Casting codes are on most of the large castings(trans, axle housings.etc.). a sample is 4-11-A which means April 11,1955. The engine size is cast into block on the right side above the lifter cover. The 300 had rear light mounted on right fender, 350 was mounted on the left fender. The 300 had the key switch mounted on the right side of the switch panel, 350 had a push-button switch in this location and the key switch was mounted on right directly under the panel. Let us know what you find !

Wow, I do have an engine date on the block that says 4-11-A. This unit has a key switch, however, the lighter hole is empty and the hole right of that is empty, maybe a push butin was there. Lights are on both rears.Appears to have a C-169 motor, so I am thinking it is a 300.

Did 200's have power steering? This one does. But not hooked up, I am betting it was leaking.

Thanks for the info.

Check serial numbers to left on this site. 350s had red/white paint (originally)

Actually, I think the hood only had red paint. I think the white was just a sticker. That's how it is on the 350's and 450's I've seen.

Mine was paint, at least I believe it was, when prepping for repaint, it was integral with the hood. We have owned it from its delivery. The point was that the 300 had no white on the sheetmetal, or grill.

This one has been repainted 6 or 7 times. I imagine what is throwing me off is the existence of the 350 manual. Could be it was not to go with that tractor. I lloked on the inside of panels for overspray, and have concluded it is probably a 300U.

Thanks to all for the different perspectives, it really helped me narrow this thing down!

The serial Number will tell you for sure. Look left on this page and the issue is solved. The block will also have an engine casting # on it that are different between the two, or if it has had a different engine placed in it. The 350 had a ignition key below a round rubber start push button.
The 300 was different. 350 had draft control and a "D" shaped notched handle on the left side of the seat to control the traction downforce. 300s did not (I believe)

If the paint was badly deterioated and mostly rust when you prepped it, it might have appeared to be paint. I have seen decals that could be sanded off as if they weren't there. I think all the 30 and 50 series had white decals on the hood.

Didn't mean for it to sound like a wise-guy comment, just thought that I'd mention it because if he looked under the layers of paint he might not find any white on the hood because they could have removed the sticker before painting. They must have changed them through the years. I learn something new every day. One tractor I do work on is a 130, and it has a white sticker.
