I want to buy parts from Yesterdays Tractor Company for my Farmall A. They say they don't ship to Canada.(British Columbia)I have emailed them to find out if there is a way around this but have not gotten a reply. Anyone got an idea. I want to get fenders, hood and some other small parts. Thanks for any help, Don

Don: New reproduction or aftermarket parts are quite hard to ship in small quantities for a couple of reasons. First brokerage firms that clear these items through customs charge per invoice. Very little difference in the cost of your few parts from that of a trailer load.

Secondly, most US parts houses have retailers here in Canada, and many times those Canadian retailers are able to sell for less in CAD than the US company lists it for in their catalogue in USD. They are giving these Canadian retailers wholesale pricing and because the shipment is larger the border charges per item is quite low.

Just to give you an example, one of the major aftermarket parts companies in the US have a new 10x24 rin for Farmall 140 in their catalogue at $96.95 USD. I bought one of those rims from their Canadian retailer for $100. CAD. Haven't checked in the past few days but the CAD is only about $0.88 USD. So they are actually selling that rim for less in Canada than in the US.

We send a lot of parts world wide Canada is a snap. The only problem we have is that Customs some take a week or to for them to inspect the package.

They don"t ship anything to Canada? Or is it the larger items they won"t ship?

Try Fedex. We use them to ship to CA all the time. They should even pick them up for you at the store.

Where are you in BC? I am on Pender Island. You could possibly talk to Migraine who is in Lynden, Wash about 5 miles south of Aldergrove. I imagine UPS will ship them there and you could go down and pick them up. You will have to pay the PST and GST when you bring them across the border.

I ship smaller items worldwide all the time but fenders and a hood would be a problem because of size restrictions. I would recomend you find someone near the border on the US side and have the parts shipped there, then go pick them up sometime.

A lot has to do with the hassles of getting UPS to get the parts across the border. I sent one part to Canada I sold on Ebay and will never do it again. They were going to charge extra for them to get some paperwork in order. So I would say the hassle of customs is the main reason they will not ship to Canada.
