I have a lot of Farmall B parts and would like to make a BN out of the parts. I have no short left side to do so. What Does it take to make a BN from a B?

Thanks in advance

Since you have alot of parts, do you have a decent front grill and hood for sale that doesn"t cost an arm and a leg?

Sorry Charles I don't have these parts that are any good. Seems the grill I have was used as a push bumper!

This is coming from some one who has both. To start with the cast housing for an A does not have the threaded bosses next to the tranny for rear tooling. But you can get two of them and then you will be the same width as a BN. Now the driving axle from an A is the same on the drivers side. For the left side you can cut 4in out of the center weld together using the left axle from the B. You will need the floor plate from the A. For a drawbar you can cut 8in and then you will be the same as a BN. That is the easiest for the whole project. I f you have the swinging drawbar just cut 8in and reweld. Using the cast diff housings from an A WILL HAVE GROVES ON TOP OF THE HOUSINGS. If you need any more info feel free to call 319-430-3907 cell or home 319-683-2859. I live 17mi sw of IA CITY IA and can help get the housings and some of the other stuff if i dont have it all. Glad to help. gene b

ALL B's have the same length axles on both sides. The B has a 21 or 22" axles on both sides and the BN has 18" axles on both side. The ones where they put an A final on one side and and the standard axle was never made by IH. These may not be the correct measurments, but it gives you an idea of the size differances of the axles on a B and BN.

A lot more than just the so-called "axles". The axles are actually in the final drives and don't need changed.

You would need the shorter differential shafts and their accompanying housings. Get housings from a BN, not an A because there is a difference. Also needed is the pedal guard & the foot plate and I think there is a difference in how the pedals are mounted. Get a set of shorter drawbars while you're at the boneyard too.

Take out the right-hand side seat mount where it bolts the the differential shaft housing and bolt the seat bracket to the same place as the right side fender.

Shorter axels. The axel on the right is the same as an A, and the one on the left *I think* is a bit shorter then the standard B as well.

That and a BN decal.
