Went to our local clubs swap meet on Saturday just to look! Thought I might find a belt pulley for my H. Found a nice belt pulley right off the bat. Was on my way to the car when a guy asked if I had seen all the IH stuff on one of the trailers. I walked up there and he had a bunch of fast hitch stuff. After lots of haggleing I got a carry all for my Super C. I had to go home to get my truck and confess to the wife that I had spent all my gas money for the next three weeks. She went with me to make sure I didn't buy anything else. So what did she do.... She bought a Cub with a mower and a plow that I don't think has ever been in the dirt. I got him to come off his price a little and started to walk away when she asked if she could drive it. You could have knocked me over. She came back from her ride and whipped out the check book and wrote a check on money she had been saving up to finish the rest of our basement. So much for going just to look. I'm still numb, been married to this girl 24 years and she aint never done anything like this. I know nothing about cubs so get ready for some questions all you cub guys.
Paul
PS don't take your wife to any swap meets unless you take your trailer.

Paul, now I have to come by for that cup of coffee and meet your wife. Just for the rest of you, I have met Paul and talked to him two times and he is a very nice young man. I also liked his mental image of me before he met me. LOL

Paul, what year is the cub? Is that white paint I see on the hood and on the front wheel? If it's a 1950 it could be a white demo.

Not sure yet on the year, I need to get the serial number off of it and check it. I think that it has some grey primer showing through. Now wouldn't that be something if it was a demo modle.

Paul, what a great story! Better hold on to a gal like that. When I drove home last fall with my Super M, the first tractor I ever bought, my wife, Susie, was just as excited as I was. It meant a lot. You and I are both lucky.

In an earlier post, I asked the Farmall group about cleaning up a belt pulley, which I bought after buying the tractor. The face of mine is covered with quite a bit of greasy dirt and some old paint. I think one has to be careful not to harm the laminated-paper face. Does yours for the H need cleaning up, and if so, how do you plan to do it?

The one I picked up is in pretty good shape. I read the replies you got and I think I will give it some light sanding then paint the paper black and the rest red.

Hey Paul - You got yourself a pair of beauties there - both the Cub and Mrs Schuler!

Incidentally one of my brothers has a Cub set up exactly like your wife's - it's been serving him well for nearly 20 years now. ...Bob

Bob: Am I missing something, I saw the Cub and platform carrier, but not Mrs. Shulner. I will take your word for it on the beauty aspect. Now, the photo I truly wanted to see was Paul, he seemed to enjoy poking fun at my legs in that photo you posted of Marg. and I last summer. In fact these Missourians, seemed to enjoy poking fun at my looks. I did con a photo out of Jimmy King, but have yet to get a good look at Paul. They don't know it yet, but I've been corresponding with a guy in MO. I think as a guide, he will take me to all these Missourians. We'll call that one Hugh MacKay's invasion of Missouri.

It should be interesting when Mr. and Mrs. Shulner get out mowing grass, he with the over powered H and she with the Cub, and having to slow down when going gets tough. I'm going to see if Hal can land me there the day the duo are out mowing. If Mrs. Shulner does a better job of mowing, I can see Paul putting a 454 in the H.

Hi Hugh, here is your photo. I'm the big dumb one in the red shirt. Also in the photo is my wife, daughter Hannah, son Blake and the dogs are Jasmine and Kimber. Wish you would have asked for this a year ago. I had more hair and less of it was gray. Would have replied sooner but have been clearing brush out of fence rows all day.

Paul: Good looking family, and yes you are starting to loose your ability to grow hair. Some would say it's age, but then how long is it since Mrs. Shulner started doing these things that completely surprise you? Items like buying Cubs on impulse.

Hugh, if the picture I sent you had not had my late wife in it, it would have worked good in your garden wouldn't it?

Jim: When you sent the photo, I was tempted to ask the very same question as you asked me. I hadn't thought of the idea you just put in my head. A lady that does computer work for me, tells me she can separate photos, leaving me with an intact one as well.

Naw, that's nonsence, you wouldn't scare away my garden pests, besides you and Alice made a nice looking couple. Alice was nice looking and you made up the couple. See you in Missouri before the end of 2006.
