Dang 706 wont start this morning. Not quite sure why.
Just touched the starter once to see the timing marks and she popped and I turned the key off.

I painted the white mark I needed on the pulley. Now she wont start, just turns over.

I have spark, gas to the carb is ok, The electric gas switch clicks when I turn the key off and on.
Plugs are dry and if I give her a quick shot of ether she pops over. Should be running right?

Now you did not leave a rag stuck in the Itake did ya??? and you are 100% sure that you have the timming dead on and that the shutdown is realy working i have had them do the clicky clicky thing before and not be working . pull the selenoid out and plug it and try again. and you did make sure that the manifold is on there GOOD and tight as they do work loose and require checking them for a good while after ya get them up and running i know the book calls for 20-30 ft. lbs, but i go for the 35 ft.lbs and keep checking them for at least a dozen times .

Going to do the timimg thing now. Been to busy to get after her before now. I have her warming up now. SO lets go through this againg. Set timing to 23 deg before TDC at full throttle. Right?

SHE started. in reply to the tractor vet, 04-08-2006 07:35:47
I guess you just have to turn the key on her terms. None of this pop me once for the heck of it thing.

You may want to consider installing a primer system on that engine. It will spray that atomized gas very near the combustion chamber and the intake manifold vacuum will suck it right in.

When the military used gas engines in their tanks
with carburetors they used a primer system. Hal

Kelly,

If it pops with the either and won't run, doesn't that sound like you're not getting fuel?

Try lightly "tapping" on that carb near the n/seat area with a small hammer. Maybe the n/seat is stuck closed. Seen it before.

I did that sorry I didnt put that in there b4.
If I choke her to heck gas runs out the over flow.
But plugs are dry.
Might try putting my hand over the carb like I did with my 300 and let her suck hard.

That would be a good way to pull that atomized gas
into the cylinders. Hal
