I am looking a F-12 with cracked block. Is tractor worth buying with cracked block or can most of them be fixed?

As J.J. stated, the water jacket on the LH side just above the fuel pump is the most common area. In severe cases, I have also seen cracks internally, usually accessable by removing the governor assembly and in one case, cracks along the water jacket holes on the block deck (where the head meets the block).

I have been able to weld all but the deck cracks. I drill the ends of the crack and then use Super Missileweld, 1/8" rod, DC reverse polarity, welding just an inch at a time and peening with a pointed slag hammer until almost cool enough to touch, then repeat until done. Grind smooth. I have welded several this way with excellent results.

Good luck,
Scott

A majority of the F-12 blocks cracked on the water jacket on the left side, if youre looking at it from the seat. Typically they are repairable, depending on the size and placement of the hole.
