We want to heist a tv tower base out of its hole, we have dug all the way around and down to the bottem so we can get a chain on it. we are talking about a cubic yard of concrete here. Can I heist this with a 2001 loader mounted on a 504 utility, or is this asking too much of my tractor?

1. Set up a pulley system and pull it out.

2. Your local friendly tow truck with cable would probably pull that out for about $40.

3. Call contractor.

dont even try figure that the average yd of concrete is 3800 or more. Good way to break tractor or loader or both even upsetting.

Dynamite...works every time.

Failing that, what are you going to do with a chunk of concrete that size after you get it out of the hole? If it were mine, I'd just dig the hole a little deeper along one side, roll the block into the deeper part, and bury it. If that wasn't an option, you can rent a large jackhammer and break it up into manageable chunks.

Good luck, don't envy you.

Keith

Johanne: I doubt if there is a farm tractor loader out there that will touch a cubic yard of concrete. It will puzzle most backhoe loaders to lift that much. You guys got a job for an excavator and not a mini either.

Some of the Pippin,Wagner and IH/McCormick loader attachments for the 300/330/350Us had a breakaway capacity of 3000lbs and a max lift capacity of 1500 lbs.I think a backhoe attachment would probably have an easier time of handling weight of any kind.Remember, they have to have excellent downpressure to dig, stands to reason they should have good up lift as well. However, you may exceed rated tire capacity or axle ability.

That may weigh almost as much as your tractor.

Hi Johann, if it is 1 cubic yard of concrete then I don't think a 2001 loader will lift it as that is over 3800 lbs. About 2500 lbs would be max lift. Most loaders of that era had a lift capacity of 2000 to 2500 lbs.
See for concrete weight:

BE VERY CAREFUL 3800 lbs is a big load.
