SA leak @ hyd pump

I have been plagued by a small fluid leak at the hydraulic pump of my recently restored Super A. It seems to be leaking around the bolts that hold pump body together. I did replace all gaskets etc when it went together. I am guilty of not tightening these bolts very much as all the experience I have had with gear driven pumps in the past have called for very low torque. Is this a common problem with a simple solution?

Thanks
Mike Peroni

Hi Mike, Someone on here may have proper spec on torque, but you need to be careful because this is aluminum and will strip if over tightened! Did you change the large o-ring that seals the pump body?

Mornin Mike, My apoligies, there are no tapped holes in that pump. The bolts go through the body into the front casting. Im sorry about that, but while we are on the subject on the o-ring, did you use a round crossection o-ring or was it square? The original was a square crossection.

Thanks,
scotty

Pull it down again. Possible pinched or miss placed o ring.

No no no. You don"t get it. I said a simple solution like, I don"t know, maybe a little chant, or "just run it and it will improve":o)
I dont honestly remember the type of O ring, I used whatever was in the kit I think. A real shame because I just serviced thie rig, all new fluids etc. I knew better.

Anyway, thanks for the posts.
Mike
