ok so i have a W4 (1947) that i got a year ago, it runs easy once going but has slowly developed a leaking carburator. Now here is the thing, it is coming from that round hole right on the bottom, next to the drain plug, my manual does not even show this hole, it is about 3/8 inch across and has a small donut gasket thing in it, not idea what it does, but leaks like asieve and seems to be cause the tractor to flood and it dies after running for about 3 minutes.

any ideas
Tom

Rebuild it and set the float right.Float could have gotten a crack or hole letting gas get in the float. The hole is suppose to be there for gas to leak out if its flooding.

Is the hole your talking about towards the rear of the carb.,and does it have a small seal about 3/8 of an inch up inside of it and if so you have an adjustment needle missing. If the hole is towards the front there is supposed to be a brass retainer nut/plug for the main jet I believe.Sounds like you need to find a parts carb and a rebuild kit for a w4 or an H carb will also work. Both tractors use the very same C152 engine and all the parts will interchange with no problems. If this doesnt help you try posting a question for the tractorvet , Hugh Mackay , or AllaninNE they have helped me every rime I have had a problem. Thanks and good luck River Bottom Farmer

I have rebuilt it and did all the gaskets and i'm not missing anything, all the jets are there, it is 100%. But yes it floods and while i have taken it down and cleaned it about three times now to fix the problem it keeps getting worse as time goes on. so tell me more about how this acts as a drain when it floods? i see it happening but can you tell me any more?
