I recently bought a 1969 ih 2444 diesel with a loader. I believe the loader is either a model 2000 or 2050, I dont know. I have been having problems with my hydraulics. The loader has been raising very slowly or not at all. I changed the filters including the suction screen, and the one under the steering wheel, along with the fluid. I may not have added enough new fluid, seeing how your suspose to add 20 or so gallons. Also i have noticed something behind the right loader frame support, what is it. It looks like one end unscrews. The major steel hydraulic lines for the loader are going to it. It looks like somesort of resivoir or filter perhaps. I also have a rough time starting it and the engine knocks really bad when starting. There is also constant whitish blue smoke. Can someone please HELP me with these questions, I am going to need teh tractor alot in about 2 or 3 months. THANKS

The fluid doesn't just "stop working." It just boggles my mind how people have problems, and think changing the oil is somehow going to fix it...

If it didn't work with old fluid, it's not going to work with new fluid.

If the filter was plugged badly enough that it was completely blocking the flow of hydraulic fluid, then the pump burned up and needs to be replaced.

Most likely, the pump just plain wore out, especially if the tractor has been a heavily used loader tractor all its life. The filter and fluid had nothing to do with it.

...and what's this about the amount of hydraulic fluid? You don't know if it's full or not? You better make sure or the new pump will burn up before you even get to use it.

Hi Joe, can't help you with the loader/hydraulic problems as I am only know the B414,434,444,384 agriculture models. They all use the same BD154 British built Diesel engine. This engine is a very reliable but hard to start in cold weather engine. Lasts a long time if properly maintained.
To start the engine requires the use of the glow plugs. I believe on that model the glow plugs are activated by pushing in and holding the start key. The bad thing about the glow plugs is they are wired in series so if one burns out they all stop working.
This engine has a high compression ratio 22:1 and normally rattles and clanks a little when cold and low idle. As for the white/blue smoke this should clear up once the engine warms up. If it dosen't then there are other problems like bad injectors, rings, or injection pump timing.

Good luck
