i can"t get my super m to start. It ran fine when I parked it but now it cranks without firing. I"ve got spark from a plug wire to the oil filter housing and new plugs. It"s flooding right out, after about 5 cranks i"ve got gas dripping from the bottom of the carb with no choke or throttle. I"m thinking of switching to electronic ignition but not sure that it would help. I haven"t played with the 400 but it seems to be doing the same thing. I have a feeling that if i put a chain on them and pulled they"d be running in about 5 feet. It also looks like I won"t be getting the sm to the rpru either, my freind"s already chickened out and it"s not looking like my finances will allow renting a truck and trailer.

I shut the gas off and got nothing. turned it on and 3 cranks later the carb was dripping. The new gas did get into the carb it smelled old last time i fiddled with it, then last weekend I dumped in new gas and it's gotten to the carb. My dad's blaming it on my 12v conversion but I can hold a plug wire against then filter and get a spark, and my resistor is warming up. I might try bypassing that see what I get. Could be the spark's not hot enough.

Dry out/blow off your plugs. Then turn the gas on and count to 50 or so. Then turn the gas off and try to start your engine. If it starts turn you gas on fast and you will probably be good to go till the next time. You probably have a float thats sticking of a little junk in the needle seat area of them carb. A lot of time start it in that way will clear up the problem and a lot of time it will not. But its a way to get it going if you need to.

I doubt its ignition or gasoline quality. My experience is that these old tractors will start and run on about anything that will burn. I have started tractors that had gas that was 10 years or more old. I think your flooding ( are your plugs wet? ). Probably need a carb rbuild or somehow your choke is stuck closed.

Put fresh gasoline in; the old stuff is now rather poor quality. You only get about 1 month before the fuel begins to go bad.

Don't worry about the fuel, I bought an H last year that sat for 4 years. The engine was supposted to be fast but till we got it home it was loose threw a battery in it gave it a tug and it fired up. The next night we had it on the forge harvester. My point to this story the gas will be fine
